Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condoled with the families of victims of bandit attacks that left “scores” dead in Sokoto on Saturday.
Atiku reacted in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Monday morning.
The presidency disclosed in a statement that “scores” were killed in Kalhu, Tsage and Geeri villages near Gandi town in Rabah Local Government Area.
Presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, said in the statement that President Muhammadu Buhari expressed “deep shock and sadness” over the incident.
The President condemned all acts of violence and terrorism against innocent Nigerians, reiterating that perpetrators and sponsors of such dastardly acts would be held accountable under the law.
He prayed for the quick recovery of all those injured and assured that his administration would not relent in the fight to neutralise terrorists, bandits and kidnappers around the country.
Atiku said, “My deepest condolences to the families that have lost a dear one in these endless killings of innocent Nigerians.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that 25 persons that were killed in the incident were buried in Gandi town on Sunday.
According to the report, the State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, was at the burial ceremony.
