Atiku Finally Reveals How Boko Haram Started

2 Min Read
Sale of National Assets to Fund Budget is Irresponsible – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has revealed how dreaded terror group, Boko Haram came into existence.

The former Vice President (1999-2007) revealed this in an interview with African Reports, an excerpt of which he shared via his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.

Atiku said the group, which has waged a relentless guerilla war in the West African subregion since 2009, came into existence as a result of political thuggery, blaming politicians for creating a monster that has caused the death of more than 20,000 persons and displaced millions, especially in Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

Speaking on how he would end the Boko Haram insurgency, the Waziri Adamawa said, “I happen to know how Boko Haram came into being. They were offshoots of political thuggery. Politicians used those boys in Boko Haram to win elections and then abandoned them and then there were no jobs for them. It was the same thing with the Niger Delta. In 1998, I saw it myself and I warned people.

“It’s going to be a multifaceted approach. It will involve negotiations. It will involve military action.”
