A social media aide to President Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of visiting America under a false identity.
Onochie made the claim in a tweet via her verified Twitter handle on Friday.
The presidential aide, who quoted the United States Bureau of African Affairs (AF), said that Atiku was listed as an Aide of Senate President, Bukola Saraki on the trip.
The Bureau of African Affairs is a part of the US Department of State which is charged with advising the Secretary of State on matters of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Onochie said that the AF confirmed that Atiku could not be arrested because of the diplomatic ties with Nigeria.
She quoted the Bureau as saying: “We cannot apprehend Atiku NOW because of our diplomatic ties with Nigeria, He’s booked as an Office Aide to Nigeria’s Senate President.”
