Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari over the cancellation of the extremely lucrative contract, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s company Intels had with the Nigerian Ports Authority.
The contract was multi-billion dollar a year empire that Atiku once boasted was the crown jewel and cash cow of his vast business holdings.
The company and the Federal Government have had a running dispute in the National Assembly after Intels petitioned the House of Reps earlier this year alleging that the NPA was owing it $840 million.
That claim was rebutted by the Hadiza Bala Usman led NPA who counter-claimed that it was Intels owing the Federal Government $952 million and another N3.3 billion.
The Federal Government had alleged that Intels was in violation of its Treasury Single Account mandate, and this triggered the termination of the deal on Wednesday.
Fani Kayode said there was a political element to the FG’s decision. The former Goodluck Jonathan campaign director posted on social media site, Twitter.
He tweeted, “You cancel Atiku’s contract just because he wants to run against you in 2019. This tells me you are wicked, cowardly and petty.”
