ASUU Strike Will Double The Rate Of Sex Work – Prostitutes

2 Min Read

Nigerian prostitutes under the aegis of the Nigerian Sex Workers Association has called on the Federal Government to consider the implication of the ongoing strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on its business.

The sex workers who jubilated over the prospects of increased patronage further called on the Nigerian government to consider the effect of the strike on female students as it will increase prostitution rate among female students.

Speaking in reaction to the strike action, the national coordinator of the association, Amaka Enemo, revealed during an interview with Punchng on Friday that even without the strike action, many female students were engaging in runs which marginalizes their business.

She further disclosed that the rate at which female students will participate in the said ‘Runs’ (cash for sex) will increase during the strike period.

She revealed that idle students will be forced to embrace the sex work if the strike is not called off soon.

Enemo said: “Even without the strike, a lot of the students were doing ‘runs’, which is exchanging money for sex.

“But with the strike, just like a holiday, the rate of sex work will double. In this job, strike or holiday period is like a peak period. So, I urge them to stay safe because we cannot kick them off the streets. .

“They should be safe and use condoms. The government needs to ensure that the strike is called off because if the students are left idle due to the closure of schools, it means the government is indirectly telling them to go to the streets.”
