Omo Ibo: Seyi Law slams Teni's critics

In what appeared to be a dig at Nigerian music artistes, Seyi Law has described a 2008 stage performance by Asa as the best till date in the country.

He said he would gladly pay N1 million to buy a record of the performance.

He stated these in a series of tweets on Thursday after a creative, Tomiwa Immanuel, compared R&B singer, Tems to the Jailer crooner.

Sharing a short video of Tems singing, Immanuel tweeted, “This is Tems o. This beautiful voice here. Show me Asa singing better than this. I’m talking about just voice, leave songwriting and performance (carrying the crowd). Just vocal ability. Tems is better hands down. See voice nau!”

Reacting, Seyi Law wrote, “I hosted the first Asa live in Lagos in 2008 and till date, I have never seen a better live performance by any Nigeria Artists death or alive.

“It was as if they were playing CD.”

Another commenter, @OBOGlobal affirmed the comedian’s assessment of the show, tweeting, “I remember.. At Civic Centre.”

Reacting to the commenter’s affirmation, Seyi Law wrote, “Woooowwwww. You must be one of those who tasted my comedy exploits in this country.

“Nobody has matched that Asa’s performance in this country. I say it boldly. I wish the record was out for people to see. I will pay a million to have that record.”

The comedian berated millenials for discrediting feats achieved before the advent of social media.

“The advent of the social media won’t allow people know the brilliance of the past.

“I am still in awe of that day like it was yesterday and I have never stopped talking about how God used that show to change my life,” Seyi Law added.
