Dokubo arrives SSS headquarters yesterday morning

Founder of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Asari Dokubo explained yesterday to the State Security Service why he continues to make inciting statements that always cause controversy and heat up the polity.

Dokubo who spent six hours under interrogation with the SSS yesterday described his ordeal to journalists shortly after he was released by 4 pm.

He said he explained to the SSS that it was unfair for some people to make threats against President Jonathan’s administration and not be responded to in kind.

His words: “It was a routine question and answer session on my interviews; I gave them my opinion and reason. I told them that it is wrong for some people to be treated as if they are above the law, as if they have the right to threaten others, make inciting comments and continue to intimidate people, and get away with it.”

The SSS said it had cautioned the former militant but also placed him on watch.

SSS sources said, “Although we have cautioned Asari-Dokubo, we will also place him under watch.

“We warned him to desist from inflammatory comments or else we will deal with him according to the law of the land.

“We have extracted a commitment from him to retrace his steps and mind his language. We hope he will honour this pledge.”
