Renowned record producer Olumide Ogunade, also known as ID Cabasa, recently shared insights on the challenges faced by Nigerian artists who are parents. In a discussion on The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu, Cabasa highlighted a prevalent issue within the industry.

Cabasa expressed that many Nigerian artists are hesitant about their children listening to their own music due to explicit lyrical content. He attributed this caution to the necessity of creating music for survival rather than artistic expression alone.

In his words, “I can tell you that most artists in Nigeria that you see, they don’t want their kids to actually listen to their own songs. And don’t blame them. A lot of us are doing this thing for survival. So, the question is how do you balance who you are with who music executives want you to be?
