Outgoing Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is not happy to bid farewell to the club he has managed since October 1996 without taking them to the Europa League final.
Wenger’s exit could have been applaudable had Arsenal not lost 2-1 on aggregate to Atlético Madrid in the Europa League semifinals on Thursday.
The longest serving manager in the club’s history admitted that it was a sad ending for him at the club.
He said, “Its very sad, very, very, very sad. I’m very sad to leave the club with that exit.
“It takes some time to recover from that. After, I will see what I do with myself in the future. I have no plans at the moment.”
He added, “I am like the team, very sad and very disappointed, even very frustrated, as well, because when you go out of a competition and you had the performances in the 180 minutes that we had, it is very difficult to take.
“We missed something in the final third. You look at the number of chances we created in the two games, the least you can say is we can be very frustrated.”
After managing the club for 22 years with three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup wins, Wenger announced his decision to leave Arsenal in April 2018.
The Frenchman will bid farewell to Arsenal on Sunday.
