Martin Skrtel headed in an equalizer at the 97th minute to gift Liverpool a draw and prevent visitors Arsenal from a sneaky win having had just 36.5% ball position.
It was a tough match at Anfield, Arsenal came on looking to avenge their 5-1 thrashing at Anfield last season. Giroud put them in front in the second half after Debuchy equalised Coutinho’s goal before half time.
The Reds would have settled with a defeat at their home, but they found solace in the 9 minutes extra time given by referee Michael Oliver.
With Liverpool already down to 10 men, Skrtel came in for the rescue, heading home Adam Lallana’s corner in the 97 minute.
Arsenal Wenger felt his defenders could have contest with Skrtel to prevent his goal.
“We conceded a corner that was a bit unlucky and where we were guilty was that we didn’t jump at all with Martin Skrtel. Of course from then on we conceded so it became 2-2,” said Wenger.
The Frenchman also isn’t proud of his forwards who he claim didn’t create scoring chances.
“We played with three strikers, plus Oxlade-Chamberlain and Cazorla – that’s basically five offensive players and I felt that we didn’t create enough today,” he said.
