Arsene Wenger has enormous respect for Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi and he does not hide it.
However, he took the respect to a whole new level by describing the five-time Ballon D’Or winner as “Mr. Messi” in an appearance on BeIN Sports.
Reacting to Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Liverpool in the semi-final first leg at Camp Nou on Wednesday, Wenger hailed the Catalan side’s manager, Ernesto Valverde for bringing on Nelson Semedo to replace Sergio Roberto at right back.
He noted that the substitution solidified Barcelona’s defence.
Continuing, Wenger said, “And the second part of it, like we have seen so many times in our life, is Messi.
“Mr. Messi came in and said ‘Ok, let me finish the job now.'”

Arsene Wenger calls Lionel Messi, Mr Messi. His team has been Messi's victim so he knows him intimately!

See Wenger @biolakazeem , he took notes and nuanced the game. Most of the other ones just offer cliches. I enjoyed the Mr. Messi part. Lol. https://t.co/iQJpK9R1o6
