The Sun reports that Arsenal manager may want to use his influence to bring English defender John Stones to the Emirates. The report states that Stones would take any deal to leave the City of Manchester right now, even a loan deal would appeal to the game-staffed Centre Back.
Stones has suffered back to back injury hits this season and as such had fallen down the pecking order at City.
The Sun reports that Stones chances of featuring at the Euro 2020 hangs in the balance with manager Pep Guardiola obviously losing faith in him at a time when England’s coach Gareth Southgate would rather see the 25-year-old playing regularly.
Arsenal are in dire need of defensive reinforcements and Stones could prove vital should they land the deal. The Gunners have shipped in 31 goals this season which is more than any top-ten team had conceded.
So far, it’s turned out to be a different January window than anticipated. With Chelsea able to sign player again and Arsenal in need of a lift, the woes of Tottenham, the ups and downs of Manchester United and the frailty of City’s spine one expected to hear and see transfers confirmed by the hour but that’s not the case.
Perhaps, teams are trying to position themselves for a strong summer, which makes sense seeing that the Euros are nigh and new breakouts are bound to emerge.
