Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger splits from wife Annie

Long-time manager of Arsenal FC of England, Arsenal Wenger has split from his wife Annie whom he married in 2010.

He married her in 2010 after years of being together unofficially in a relationship that has produced an 18-year-old daughter.

In a document known as a “séparé du corps” filed before a court in Wenger’s hometown of Strasbourg, France, the couple sought a legal separation, not a full divorce, which means that the couple are not legally obliged to live together, Daily Mirror reported.

Mr Wenger has reportedly divided his assets with his 59-year-old wife after months of speculation that the couple’s union was on the rocks.

He was said to have opened up on the strain in his home, saying that the demand of his job was causing him matrimonial problems.

Wenger, 65, who has been the manager of Arsenal for 19 years, disclosed in an interview in 2008 that he told his wife 10 years ago that he would quit the job in 5 years.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wenger said in the interview: “It is difficult to find time to see them but there are jobs [which are worse]. You have guys who leave for work on Monday and come back on Friday.

“In my job I travel, but the problem is not so much the quantity of time you spend with your family, it is the quality.

“That is where this job is more damaging. You do not always give them the quality they deserve when you are at home because you are thinking of the next game.”
