Arsenal Cruise to FA cup Quarter Final

2 Min Read

Arsenal tonight defeated Hull city in the Emirates FA cup by 4 goals to nil.

The Gunners were put ahead by Olivier Giroud after a mistake by David Meyler. The Hull defender made a horrendous back pass and the Arsenal striker took full advantage and scored a few minutes before half time.

In the second half Hull city asserted themselves more and began to find some rhythm, but they were soon pegged back by another Arsenal goal. Walcott was provider as he clipped in a cross which Giroud buried with aplomb.

Not long after it was three-nill. Joel Campbell produced a defence splitting pass that was quite a beauty and Walcott was on hand to sidefoot into the net. The gunners were not done yet as Walcott scored another with a shot from the edge of the area that wrongfooted the goalkeeper and went in.
The gunners didn’t get through the match unscathed though as they lost Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Aaron Ramsey to injury. It is as yet unknown how long this will keep the players out, but with difficult games like Barcelona on the horizon, Arsene will be sweating bullets over the fitness of his players.

With this win, their first in five, Arsenal have now moved to the quarter finals of the FA cup and entertain Odion Ighalo inspired Watford at the Emirates at the weekend at a shot at getting to the semi-final and keeps their dreams of a third consecutive FA cup trophy intact.
