Arsenal close to 5 million pounds Cedric Soares transfer

2 Min Read

Arsenal are close to a 5 million pounds Cedric Soares loan move to London.

Reports coming out of London suggest that Arsenal will sign their target before the end of the January transfer window.

Sky Sports reported that Arsenal were closing in on a late move for the fullback for whom Southampton are looking to cash in before the player’s contract expires next summer.

Charles Watts also confirmed the links as Arsenal are looking to cover for Hector Bellerin and Southampton are open to selling the player.

Though Arsenal are only taking the player on loan at first, he’s a free agent in the summer. As a result, the Gunners won’t have to pay a transfer fee to sign him permanently at that stage.

Arsenal have an option on the table for a longer-term deal this summer, reportedly set at four years.

Soares made it clear to the Saints in November that he doesn’t intend to extend his contract with Southampton, unfortunately, an injury that sidelines him for three weeks may deter the deal but that’s unlikely given that he has ample time to recover during the winter break before the Gunners’ next game against Burnley.

Cedric is out with injury right now after starting 12 consecutive Premier League games for Southampton. He picked up an injury in the most recent one and will spend three weeks on the sidelines.
