The Nigeria Army says that it has arrested a suspected Boko Haram financier and stimulants dealer Mohammed Maina in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
In a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, the Army said Maina was apprehended with cash sum of one million naira and some items.
The Army said it believed Maina supplied the insurgents with kolanuts, which he said kept them active at night, and other stimulants.
It was revealed that Maina likely plied the routes along the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Kuli axis where he gathered monetary and other material contributions from Boko Haram sympathisers and passed them to the terrorists.
Similarly, Usman said troops of the 112 Battalion and Special Forces in Mafa and Dikwa raided a Boko Haram camp at Bulungwa Naibe in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to the statement, the troops killed many of the insurgents in the course of the operation and recovered items including a Buffalo vehicle mounted with an anti-aircraft gun, a rocket propelled grenade, two machine guns and 1 sub-machine gun were recovered from the terrorists.
In addition, 5 AK-47 rifles, 1 Fabrique Nationale rifle and 2 sewing machines were recovered.
The sewing machines, the Army said, were likely used in sewing uniforms for the terrorists.
The Army promised to continue its onslaught against the terrorists until the menace of insurgency is totally eradicated from the country.
