The Nigeria Army has issued an unequivocal warning to pro-Biafra agitators, whom it said are attempting to dismember the nation.
This was disclosed by the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 82 Division, Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, in a chat with journalists in Enugu on Tuesday.
According to him, the Army will sit not back while some people commit treasonable felony and arson.
He said: “The warning to the agitators is to tell them that enough is enough.
“The Nigerian Army would like to send an unequivocal warning to all and sundry, more specifically to all those threatening and agitating for the dismemberment of the country, committing treasonable felony and arson.
“Once deployed, the Nigerian Army shall apply the rules of engagement to the letter in order for peace to prevail.”
Attahiru said that cases of violence and lawlessness had already been recorded in places like Enugu, Port Harcourt, Onitsha and Aba.
Affirming that maintaining of law and order was the duty of the police, he said that the army had taken its time before adopting its current stance.
