The Commander, 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, Brig-Gen Ahmed Taiwo says the Army is unhappy with Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for denying inviting the Army when the Lekki Toll Gate incident of October 20 occurred.
He said this Saturday while testifying before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the Lekki incident.
There has been controversy over the shooting of peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate by soldiers.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has denied inviting the army to maintain the curfew he imposed, a claim the army refuted.
The Army general said the governor took the right step to invite the military after chaos ensued in many parts of the state.
However, he stated that the Army is unhappy with Sanwo-Olu that the governor said two persons died from the military intervention at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20.
“I spoke with the governor and said the Army was unhappy that he said he did not ask for Army’s intervention but I am sure that after you watched everything (video footages), you saw he had more than enough grounds to ask for Army’s intervention; perhaps it was the way everything went,” he said.
