Arik Airline has shutdown activities and its travellers have been stranded at the airport across the country following the airline’s inability to convey passengers to their various destinations.
Passengers of the airline who have been at the airport since the early hours of the day have been unable to ascertain if any of their flight schedules will be honoured as both local and international schedules have been placed on hold.
Sahara Reporters however resorted that the reason behind the airline’s inability to airlift its travelers is due to its inability to pay up the massive debt accrued from outstanding purchase of aviation fuel.
Arik air was reported to have cited the delay and cancellation of flight schedules to unavailability of Jet A1 and poor weather condition.
Sahara reporter further gathered that the airline’s insurance company in Europe had withdrawn its insurance cover thereby complicating the airline’s businesses which resulted in its inability to buy for fuel.
According to marketers, Arik Air was described as a bad debtor and currently owes its suppliers at least N3 billion.
