Name the Justice League and odds are you might forget to mention Aqua Man while calling the likes of Superman, Batman, Green Arrow and Wonder woman, but in terms of box office receipts, the underwater King is the Overlord.
This past weekend, the movie which stars Jason Mamoa as the titular character, hit $1.09 billion in terms of gate receipts which now places it above Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises which was until now the highest DC movie with $1.085 billion.
How does Aquaman fare against their more illustrious neighbours Marvel? Well, not so well, as it is the 7th when compared to all other Superhero movies.
Infinity War, Avengers, Age of Ultron, Black Panther, Civil War and Iron Man 3 still crush the DC top movie with Infinity War making a mind-boggling $2,048,359,754 worldwide.

The movie is about Aquaman or as he is also known Arthur Curry who comes to discover that he is heir to the underwater throne and now has to navigate a tussle the undersea world of Atlantis and the surface world. Aquaman’s half-brother King Orm (Patrick Wilson) wants revenge against the surface world who have polluted the waters for too long and he, therefore, wants to go to war and destroy them.
In terms of figures in the USA, Aquaman is still behind The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, meanwhile, Black Panther rules the American box office, making $700 million in the states.
