The Court of Appeal in Lagos has upheld the 5-year jail term of actor Baba Ijesha. This decision comes after Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court sentenced Baba Ijesha to five years imprisonment in July 2022 for sexually assaulting a minor.

Baba Ijesha appealed the judgment, but the appellate court, led by Justice Folashade Ojo, affirmed his conviction. While the court set aside the appellant’s conviction on indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault between 2013-2014, it found Adekoya’s eyewitness account for the April 19, 2021, incident credible. Baba Ijesha had confessed to the crime in police statements.

The court ordered that Baba Ijesha serve 5 years for indecent treatment of a child and 3 years for sexual assault, with the sentences running concurrently.
