The fortunes of the PDP continue to dwindle as the Appeal Court sitting in Yola has nullified the election of Governor Muritala Nyako.
According to the Appeal Court, the PDP candidate was not the winner of the election conducted in 2012 by the Attahiru Jega led INEC.
The Appeal court based its decision on evidence provided by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Chief Markus Gundiri. Gandiri had approached the election tribunal immediately after INEC declared in Nyako’s favour.
The Appeal Court judge based his judgment on evidence provided by the petitioner as exhibit.
“This honurable appeal tribunal hereby quash the victory of Governor Muritala Nyako following the mega irregularities and manipulation that marred the election that brought to the office of the Adamawa state governor” the judgement reads.
The tribunal has ordered for a fresh govenorship election in Adamawa state within the next 90days.
However, counsel to Governor Nyako stated that his client will appeal against the appellate court ruling at the Supreme court.
