Appeal Court nullifies Ned Nwoko’s senatorial seat victory

2 Min Read

Ned Nwoko, who recently got married to Nollywood Star, Regina Daniels, has had his initial candidacy overturned after an Appeal Court recoginsed Peter Nwaoboshi as the rightful representative of the  Delta North Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party.

The decision to nullify the billionaire came after the presiding judge in the Appeal Court stated that the Federal High Court which initially announced him as the right contestant did not file the suit properly.

The latest ruling declared that Ned should have filed the case at a lower court not later than 14 days after the whole disagreement started.

So, since he did not file the suit within the specified days, the case had become statute barred.

The new ruling read, “As at the time the matter was instituted at the Federal High Court, the case was statute barred. We set aside the decision of the Federal High Court and strike out the case.”
Meanwhile, INEC had issued a certificate of return to Peter Nwaoboshi before Ned Nwoko’s suit at the Federal High Court forced the commission to withdraw it and issue another one for Ned.

Now, the decision would be reversed once more.
