The National Convention of the All progressive Grand Alliance party (APGA), took place at the Women Development Centre, Awka, on Monday morning.
Chief Maxi Okwu has been elected as the new National Chairman. In his remarks, he said, “I would work harmoniously with everyone to re-invent the vision of the party in line with the vision of the founding fathers. APGA shall be stronger, progressive and formidable.’’
Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra State, who was also present at the convention, said it was the first time any political party conducted a successful convention without rancour or acrimony.
He went further to add that the party would consolidate on its current strength and emerge victorious in the coming elections.
A total of 28 new National Officers were also elected to pivot the affairs of the party. They include, Alhaji Sadeeq Massala, National Vice-Chairman (North); Alhaji Sigir Maidoya, Secretary; Chief Chris Uche, National Vice-Chairman (South); Dr. Elijah Onwuka, National Vice-Chairman (South-East); Alhaji Tijani Idris, National Vice-Chairman (North-West), among others.
Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were also present to observe the convention that ended on a peaceful note.
