APC Won 2015 Presidency Because of Buhari’s Personality, Sheriff Insists

2 Min Read

The All Progressives Congress (APC) may have won the 2015 Presidential election, however, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff insists that it was not due to the platform but Muhammadu Buhari’s personality.

Muhammadu Buhari who contested under the umbrella of the APC had  beaten then-incumbent President, Goodluck of the PDP in the election – the first time of such since the birth of democratic governance in the country, 1999.

Speaking through the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Bernard Mikko, the embattled man added that those who are in the APC were former members of the PDP.

He added that those decamped members of the PDP did not turn to angels because they joined APC.

“We know some members might want to leave (because of the registration of the new parties), it is possible. However, the registration of these parties is good for our democracy,” Sheriff said.  “Members (of the PDP) that may want to move to other political are the same as proliferation of political parties don’t change people.

“Majority of the people in the All Progressives Congress are from the PDP. The APC didn’t win the last election; it was won by President Muhammadu Buhari.”
