The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, to resign honourably or face impeachment from his position.
The party’s position came following reports this week that Dogara, who represents Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa-Balewa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, had obtained Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enable him return to the house.
Some of Dogara’s constituents had purchashed the forms and presented them to him the same day that APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole met and expressed confidence in the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, with whom Dogara is locked in a supremacy battle.

According to The Punch, the party’s position on the speaker was made known by its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena.
Nabena was quoted as saying, “It should be obvious to Dogara that his various anti-party activities have reached a final destination with his reported decision to leave the APC.
“He became Speaker because he was a member of our party -even though he has not formally told us of his defection, now that he is reported to have left, the right thing for him to do is to vacate the seat.”
Oshiomhole was also reported to have begun the process of facilitating Dogara’s removal.
According to TheCable, Oshiomhole on Friday met some members of the House of Representatives and party members in a move believed to be geared towards ousting Dogara.

While Dogara has not officially declared his defection from the APC, he has absented himself from party activities over a long while, fuelling the party’s suspicion that he might decamp like his Senate counterpart, Dr Bukola Saraki, who announced his defection to the PDP on July 31.
