APC Vows To Maintain Senate Leadership

2 Min Read
Odigie-Oyegun

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has maintained that the party would not let the Senate presidency slip into opposition’s hand.

The National Chairman made the declaration on Wednesday while reacting to reports credited to him claiming the APC was ready to sacrifice the Senate Presidency to the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP if Saraki was found guilty by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

The APC National Chairman maintained that the party’s decision stands as there was no option of losing the Senate presidency position to opposition party. He added that based on the configuration of the Senate, the APC holds majority party in the Senate which is a bonus to the party’s cause.

Oyegun, while addressing journalist in his office at the APC’s national secretariat in Abuja said: “Under no circumstances will his party compromise the leadership of the senate”.

He added that: “That misunderstanding is still on? Let me put it simply. There were basically two points that I was making. Number one, as a party of change even as a party, we cannot interfere in a judicial process that is ongoing. That was clear. And when they asked about the senate, I said under no circumstance can we compromise on the leadership of the senate.”
