Governors Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun of Imo and Ogun states have been suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over anti-party activities.
The party’s NWC took the decision at its meeting in Abuja on Friday.
Recall that the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole in December described both governors as electoral liabilities to the party.
Although both governors have won senatorial seats under the APC in Saturday’s National Assembly election, they are supporting candidates of other political parties for the March 9 gubernatorial election in their respective states.
While Okorocha is backing his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA), Amosun is backing Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement.
The APC’s governorship candidate in Imo is Sen. Hope Uzodinma and its governorship candidate in Ogun is Dapo Abiodun.
