All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers, have called on the Federal Government to deploy security agents and secure its waterways.

APC leader in the local government, Mr George Tolofari, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bonny on Saturday.

According to him, the waterways leading to the kingdom is not safe.

“Our waterways are unsafe. We are calling on Federal Government to come to our aid. If we will have gunboats to secure our waterways, we will be very grateful.

“We are also calling on the Federal Government to see to the fruition of Bodo-Bonny Road to open up the ancient Kingdom for development,” he said.

Mr Aye People, an indigene of the community and APC candidate for Degema/Bonny Federal constituency in the pending legislative rerun elections in state, said insecurity on their waterway was a major challenge.

Aye said that Bonny people were peace loving and want the Federal Government to intervene and stop sea pirates on the waterways.

He said that APC in the state was lobbying the Federal Government to see that Bonny gets the needed development.

According to him, Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency has missed out in terms of development in the past two years because there is nobody representing them in the National Assembly.

“I cannot wait to be in the National Assembly and represent my constituents. We are missing a lot. I have represented Bonny in the State House of Assembly for eight years.

“I want to represent my people in the National Assembly and partner with APC-led Federal Government to ensure that the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Train Seven Project is executed in Bonny,” he said.

Aye said that he was hopeful of victory whenever the Independent National Electoral Commission fix a date for the rerun legislative elections in Rivers.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bonny was hosting Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) in Rivers.
