Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has accused the All Progressives Congress of buying Permanent Voters Cards across the state at the rate of N10,000 each.
Chairman, Media and Publicity, PDP Campaign Organisation, Mr Emma Okah, in a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt said “We are appalled by this development, believing that it portends grave danger to the nation’s democracy, as well as jeopardising the efforts of government and the commission in the quest for free and fair elections.
“PDP has received several reports from the 23 local government areas that the sum of N10,000 is being paid per PVC by APC, thereby disenfranchising their owners in the March 28 and April 11 general election.
“PDP therefore, calls on the security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently check this ugly political trend by arresting and prosecuting the culprits to ensure a free, transparent and participatory election in the state.”
However Rivers APC chairman, Dr Davies Ikanya, in a statement issued by his media aide, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, said PDP’s claim was contrary to the use of smart card reader.
