APC NWC Members Murmur Over Oshiomhole’s Leadership Style

2 Min Read
New APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may soon implode if a noticeable crack between some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole is not addressed quickly.

The bone of contention is said to be the failure of the national chairman to carry the NWC members along in decision making.

Also, the NWC members are said to be angry that Oshiomhole decided to wrest control of the party in some states from the state governors, which is believed to be the cause of crises within those states after the just-concluded primaries.

States affected include Zamfara, Imo, Kaduna, Ogun, Niger, Ondo and some others.

As many of the NWC members are candidates of their governors, especially those from APC-controlled states, they perceive the chairman’s plan as a ploy to pitch them against their state governors.

Many of the NWC members said to be displeased with Oshiomhole are those who served under the tenure of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

Those present NWC members that served under Oyegun include: Deputy National Chairman (North), Sen. Lawal Shuiabu; National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni; National Auditor, Chief George Muoghalu; National Welfare Secretary, Masari; National Vice Chairman (North East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu; National Vice Chairman (South East), Chief Emma Enukwu and National Vice Chairman (South South), Prince Hilliard Eta.

Furthermore, the staffers of the National Secretariat are said to be unhappy that the national chairman unilaterally decided to hold NWC meetings in his Aso Drive private office instead of the National Secretariat on Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.

New Telegraph reported that this has made many of the NWC members stay away from the National Secretariat, leaving the staff redundant.

However, the paper quoted Oshiomhole’s media aide, Simon Ebegbulem as denying reports that NWC members were angry with his boss.

According to him, some persons may however be unhappy with Oshiomhole’s “strict” leadership style.
