APC Labels Ex Minister, Maku As Security Threat In Nasarawa

2 Min Read

The former Minister of Information and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Nasarawa state, Mr Labaran Maku has been described as ‘a security threat’ by the All Progressives Congress in the state.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday, signed by state secretary of the party, Aliyu Bello, the APC said by his pronouncements, Maku has constituted himself into a security threat, with the party urging security operatives to put the former minister on surveillance.

The APC said judging from reports obtained across the state, peace has returned to Nasarawa with citizens co-existing in peace and harmony, wondering where Maku got his information indicating that insecurity is resurfacing in the state.

The former minister in a chat with journalists recently appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to place Nasarawa State under special security surveillance to curb alleged spate of attacks in the state.

The APC however dismissed Maku’s claim, stressing that the former minister must be suffering from a prick of the conscience, especially following mounting allegations of his complicity in the Ombatse crises which led to the death of scores of people, including 85 security operatives in Alakyo.

“We make bold to say peace has returned to Nasarawa State and that Maku’s reckless assertions are unfounded. In fact, we are calling on the security agencies to put the former minister on surveillance because he has now become a security threat.

“Not only that, we are also appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to wade in and assist the people of the state by directing an investigation of those behind the Ombatse crisis in the state which led to death of scores of our people, including 85 security operatives on official duty at Alakyo” the party stated.
