APC Is Experiencing Turbulent Times Because We Are New In Power – Oyegun

3 Min Read

The National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has conceded that the APC was experiencing turbulent times due to its new entrance in the leadership of the nation.

“It is totally a new experience for a progressive party to be in power and you know what progressive parties are like. They like debate, argument, hear all part of the story, this is exactly what we are going through now.”

He further said that the current crisis rocking the party were expected but declared will be a thing of the past while chiding those who forecasted the fall of the party, describing them as jokers.

He spoke during the weekend, at the 29th Coronation and 60th birthday of the Onojie of Opoji, His Royal Highness, Aidenojie Ehidiamen 1. Other dignitaries at the event include the deputy governor of Edo State, Dr Pius Odubu, representative of the governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Edo State, Prof. Osarhiemen Osunbor, state chairman of the APC, Mr Anslem Ojezua, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere and many others.

“It has brought stress there is no question about it but it has not changed our focus, the President is committed, doing his best and very soon things will stand back. It is unfortunate, nobody like quarrel within the party but if we have a quarrel then so be it, you quarrel, you sort out things and you move on and that is what is happening. But those thinking also that the APC will disintegrate as a result of the National Assembly crisis are jokers because we will come out stronger and better,” he stated.

He added that “people are saying that we are slow but we should all know that President Buhari intends to fulfil his electioneering promises and he does not intend to do it in a hurry because of the past years of misrule.”

He also leapt to the defence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s delay in constituting his cabinet saying it would take a little time for a progressive President in the person of Muhammadu Buhari to correct the decay in the system which according to him will set the nation on the path of greatness.
