APC inaugurates caretaker officers in Gombe

3 Min Read

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated caretaker officers for the Gombe State chapter of the party.

This is contained in a statement issued by the National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, on Saturday in Abuja.

Buni said in the statement that the NWC had relieved Mr Muhammad Doho and Mr Dauda Manu as state chairman and state legal adviser respectively.

The APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Alhaji Lawal Shuaibu, who inaugurated the officers on behalf of the NWC, urged the officers to be steadfast.

He said the terms of reference directed the officers to steer the affairs of the party diligently.

“Lead the members of the State Working Committee of the party in your respective capacities.

“Take stock of all officers of the party to ensure they are in tandem with the outcome of the nationwide congresses held in 2014, using the authentic list given to you by the National Secretariat.

“Ensure the streamlining of all parallel offices and shutting down illegal party offices that exist at ward, local government and even at state levels.

“Consult with all stakeholders and other opinion leaders of the party in the state but strictly for obtaining meaningful advice for a way forward.

“Ensure that all members of the State Working Committee and the Executive Committee are carried along in the discharge of your mandate and submit monthly reports to and receive directives from the National Secretariat.

“This will improve the fortunes of the party as well as restore peace and unity,’’ he quoted the terms of reference as stating.

The statement named Mr Lawan Shettima as the State Chairman, Mr Bala Jibrin; Deputy Chairman, Mr Sule Yakubu; Secretary and Mr Joseph William; Legal Adviser.

The statement said that the new officers would serve for a three-month renewable period.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that irreconcilable differences in the top hierarchy of the state chapter of the party led to factions.

During the crisis, the NWC of the party had also earlier accepted the resignation of Mr Karu Ishaya and Mr Sallau Pindiga as State Deputy Chairman and State Secretary respectively.(NAN)
