The All Progressives Congress (APC) will today hold a mini-convention to elect a new National Publicity Secretary for the ruling party.
It will be recalled that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had resigned from the position more than a year ago following his appointment as Minister.
Attempts by the suspended Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Timi Frank, to assume the position in acting capacity were rebuffed by the National Working Committee (NWC) based on the zoning arrangement for the party positions.
It was however gathered that the leadership of the APC had concluded the plans to elect another spokesman from the North-Central zone, with Kwara state as the preferred state.
Sources said that a former Minister of Sports, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, is set to emerge as the new spokesman of the APC at the mini-convention scheduled to hold at the New Chelsea Hotel in Abuja at 11am.
It was also confirmed that only delegates from the six states of North-Central zone are expected at the emergency convention, while the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, members of the NWC, as well as governors from the affected states are expected to attend the elective convention.
