The Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the APC Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has lampooned the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that the party has not been fair to him and his supporters.
Okorocha’s preferred candidate and son-in-law, Uche Nwosu lost the party’s gubernatorial ticket to Senator Hope Uzodinma in the party’s gubernatorial primaries in October.
Nwosu has since defected to the Action Alliance (AA), with the support of Okorocha, who has continued to insist that the party would win the gubernatorial seat in the state.
Speaking on Saturday at the APC South East Women and Youths rally which held in Owerri, Okorocha lambasted the party for not treating him fairly.
He also insisted that his action of supporting another party’s candidate was not a form of anti-party activity, stressing that his action was to protest alleged imposition in the state.
Okorocha said, “the APC has not been fair to us. We are only being calm because of President Muhammdu Buhari who already has won in Imo State.
“We are going to support Buhari but let me tell you people, after we were cheated by the APC, in order to deliver the President, we formed an alliance with other political parties and leading among them is AA led by Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.
“Nwosu is APC in spirit. APC owes Imo people an apology because of the injustice meted to Imo people. Nwosu will win Imo state. It is not anti-party (activity). We refused imposition in Imo state.”
