The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has decried the high cost of obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the 2020 gubernatorial election in the state.
He said the N22.5 million price tag for the forms was too high.
Akeredolu spoke while receiving a check of N22.5 million from some political groups that contributed the funds to enable him to obtain the necessary forms.
The event took place at Akeredolu’s Campaign Office located on Akure-Ilesha Road on Wednesday.
The governor said he raised an objection to the high cost of the forms when the fee was announced at the caucus meeting of the party.
“When I contested the first and second time in 2012 and 2016 respectively, I raised the money on my own but was not as much as this.
“When the fee for this year’s election was announced, I screamed that it was too much and that I don’t have the money.
“When I contested the first and second time, I did not see people as much as these, and this means that you are really with me,” Akeredolu said.
