For allegedly failing to protect them from herdsmen and rapists, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost hundreds of members in Odighi and Odiguete communities in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The members took their leave from the party over the weekend, Vanguard reported.
The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, is from Edo State.
The community members said they could no longer support a party that has allowed herdsmen rape their women and take over their farmlands.
“Our people can no longer go to their farms. Our women are being raped and our people are being killed because of the activities of herdsmen.

“We can no longer remain in a party that cannot protect us. The party that brought the herdsmen must go,” a spokesman for Odighi community, who pleaded anonymity, was quoted as saying.
A legal practitioner, Julius Edobor, who spoke on behalf of Odiguete residents, said they were tired of waiting for the herdsmen crisis to end under the APC, saying they were pitching their tent somewhere else.
Recall that The Herald had last week reported how women in Ewu-Urhobo community, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State staged a protest against constant attacks by herdsmen.
Mrs. Queen Dieseruvwe, the women leader of the community, said that the herdsmen would usually say that “all lands in Nigeria, including our communal lands, belong to President Muhammadu Buhari.”
