The All Progressive Congress seems to be going from one patch of trouble to the next and the latest scandal to rock the party was the announcement that the Ekiti Governorship Primaries for APC have been suspended indefinitely.
This came after complaints of violence and disorderly conduct.
According to Premium Times, there was a meeting held between all the aspirants and the organizing committee lef by Tanko Al-Makura.
Mr. Al-Makura, visibly angry, walked out of the meeting without briefing the press.
Reports suggest that the disruption was caused by party supporters and agents of aspirants who alleged that someone working for former governor, Kayode Fayemi, was trying to manipulate the voters.
Mr Fayemi’s so-called agent, Abedeji Adewumi accused other agents of trying to disrupt the process when they saw that Fayemi was in the lead.
“They disrupted the election because we are leading. The rule was that if a delegate had difficulty identifying who to vote for, he can call the agent and he could be guided on how to vote,” he said.
“So when the other agents saw that those who were voting were calling on the agent of JKF, they felt we were leading and were not comfortable.” the agent said.
There had been complaints that the primaries lacked clear guidelines which led to confusion among agents and other stakeholders.
The agents have concluded that the Primaries be suspended until all their observations are considered
