Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani has been criticised by All Progressives Congress, APC South East Zone, for his remarks at President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term declaration at Eagles Square, Abuja on Tuesday.

Nnamani spoke at the event on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-East, he condemned the neglect of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, the busiest road in the region, but stated that only Jonathan could fix it.

He also said that people in the South-East are supporting Jonathan because they do not want the second Niger Bridge to be neglected.

In a statement by the APC South East Spokesman, APC said “we are yet to recover from Senator Nnamani’s double-speak statement, on one hand indicting President Jonathan for neglecting the busiest highway in the South-East, Enugu-Onitsha highway, a road that is in terrible condition, and on the other hand saying that it is only the same President Jonathan who can fix it.

“We rate this as a grave insult to our collective intelligence, a double-speak and corrupted propaganda, coming from someone we thought we can follow to the battlefield blindfolded. Are Nnamani and cohorts not aware that Jonathan followed due process and funded the Owete Bridge over successive federal budgets? Why is the Second Niger Bridge not in any federal budget?”

Ken Nnamani was Senate President from 2005 to 2007.
