Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has mocked the Federal Government over herdsmen killings that claimed 86 lives in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State over the weekend.
The Plateau Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of 86 people in attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
But the controversial governor queried why the killings happened despite the non-existence of an anti-open grazing law in the state, after the Defence Minister, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd) claimed recently that the existence of the law in some states was responsible for continued killings.
Ekiti, Benue and Taraba have an anti-open grazing law in place to check indiscriminate cattle grazing by herdsmen.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle in response to the killings, Fayose said, “Today again, suspected herdsmen killed over 200 Nigerians in Plateau State.
“I am not aware of any Anti Grazing Law in Plateau State. So can the FG that claimed that anti grazing law made by some States caused the killings by herdsmen tell Nigerians what happened?”
