Anti-Corruption War: Buhari’s Exemplary Leadership Behind Success – ICPC Boss

2 Min Read

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Ekpo Nta, has on Friday said the ongoing anti-corruption crusade by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has so far been successful because the President has been exemplary.

The ICPC Chairman who spoke on a television programme said the international community had started co-operating with the anti-corruption crusade of the Buhari-led administration, adding that the fight against corruption is beginning to gain traction and Nigerians are beginning to key into the project.

In his statement, Nta said; “The seriousness with which the war is being fought in Nigeria has been eliciting responses from countries that have been promising to offer assistance to Nigeria in its fight against corruption.

“ICPC has long taken preventive measures towards advancing the course of the fight against corruption through the promotion of ethics and integrity from childhood. We have also alluded to the launching of National Values Curriculum in schools since 2007 to inculcate ethics in students at primary and secondary schools, which is in collaboration with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council.”

Nta further added that interests had also been aroused from the grassroots in Nigeria as even local communities have been willing partners in the fight against corruption.

He explained that before now indigenes of some communities used to be hostile to operatives of law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, including ICPC, whenever they want to make arrests but that is no longer the case.
