Chikelue Iloenyosi, a chairmanship candidate in Friday’s elections into the Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA) board, has petitioned against the candidature of his sole opponent, Emeka Okeke.
Iloenyosi, who appeared before the AnSFA 2020 Elections Appeals Committee in Awka on Monday, said he was contesting Okeke’s eligibility on a number of grounds.
He said Okeke should not contest because he was the chairman of the Caretaker Committee set up by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to supervise the elections.
“The mandate did not include that he should not resign and contest,” Iloenyosi said.

He also claimed that Okeke was an NFF-approved football intermediary and also chairman of a football club in Anambra.
“I have tendered various documentary evidences to back up my claim and I am confident that the Appeals Committee will consider their merits and act in line with the spirit of NFF statutes on the issues raised.”
Okeke, who also appeared before the committee, refused to speak on his interaction with the members.
He however urged all those involved in Nigerian football to help uplift the well-being of youths in the country.
Chijioke Onyedika, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee who spoke on behalf of the Appeals Committee, said the committee would not speak on the process.
He however added that the outcome of the appeal would be made public in due course. (NAN)
