Another Queen’s College Pupil Dies

2 Min Read

Following the epidemic which claimed the lives of two students of Queen’s College, Lagos, another death has been recorded.

The victim and the third death recorded, Praise Sodipo was reported to have died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

The latest victim in the Queen’s college epidemic was according to Punch an orphan and a student of Senior Secondary School one.

Report indicated that the pupil had been on life support at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital before she died late Thursday night.

Speaking on the latest development, the President of the school’s Old Girls’ Association, Dr. Frances Ajose and the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris confirmed the demise of the pupil.

The latest death recorded comes after two pupils of the school, one Vivian Osuiniyi and Bithia Itulua belonging to Junior Secondary School two and three respectively had been reported dead leading to the closure of the facility and hospitalization of several other pupils.

A parent who preferred to remain anonymous told Punch: “She was one of the first set of students that fell ill. She was an orphan. She went into a coma and was on life support, before she eventually passed on. That has made the death toll to be three now.”

Another parent whose child was part of the over 16 students admitted to the hospital following the epidemic called on the Federal Government to probe the deaths and prosecute the school authority.

He said: “This should not be swept under the carpet. There have been three deaths because of the carelessness of one person. We have lost these promising ones and their families are now in sorrow. This case must be probed and all those involved brought to book.”
