In an event at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, the highly anticipated six-part epic series, “Anikulapo: Rise Of The Spectre,” marked its grand premiere on Sunday. The event, hosted by renowned comedian Gbenga Adeyinka, was graced by a constellation of A-list actors, including Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Femi Adebayo, Monalisa Chinda, Jaiye Kuti, Sola Sobowale, Taiwo Hassan, and Gabriel Afolayan.
The Producer and Director, Kunle Afolayan, expressed his gratitude during the premiere, acknowledging the eight-year journey of bringing the series to life. He attributed the success to the cast, crew, and supporters while highlighting the significance of divine grace in the project.
“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre” is a spinoff from the acclaimed movie “Anikulapo” and picks up the narrative where the film left off, focusing on the life of Saro and his wife. The mysterious bird, Akala, makes a return, introducing elements of betrayal, revenge, and the quest for ultimate power.
Shot at the Kunle Afolayan Production (KAP) Film Village in Komu-Igbojaye, Oyo State, the series involved a massive team of 600 people. Beyond its theatrical success, “Anikulapo” had previously secured multiple accolades at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA) 2023, including Overall Best Movie, Best Sound Editor, Best Sound Track, Best Writer, and Best Indigenous Language Movie.
