The Nigeria Mandate for Jonathan 2015, a group vying for the re-election of President Jonathan will hold a 5 million man march in Awka next week in order to urge President Jonathan to contest for the Presidency in 2015.
The group’s coordinator, Chief Kingsley Nwafor told reporters, “What we are doing is to compel President Goodluck Jonathan to go for the second term as president of Nigeria. For us in Anambra State and Igbo of the south East zone, his administration has been the best for us. You are aware of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, which has reduced the risks of our people travelling to Lagos and Abuja to take international flight.
“You are also aware of the second Niger Bridge that is ongoing, which would also reduce the pressure on the old Niger Bridge as well as avert possible accident on our major high ways.”
“Even in key appointments at the federal level, our people have been adequately represented in the while federal road projects in our areas have received attention. So that is why we, in Anambra State, are supporting President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for 2015.”
Media spokesperson for the group, Okey Okafor said, “Those challenging the 2015 agenda are only trying to be clever by half. He is just on his first term and he constitutionally has the right to go for second term. You cannot count the first tenure of late Yar’ Adua as Jonathan first tenure.”
Okoye added that “the five-million-man match is suggestive of our support for the President. It also shows the sustained interest we have in his administration to continue to give governance a human face. We are also aware of his battle against terrorism, which he has been waging within the ambit of the law, irrespective of the pressure from those who want him to apply elements of military dictatorship, which is unconstitutional.
”In fact, Jonathan not going for a second tenure is actionable in court and we may use that option if need be. We have that right of litigation because we are Nigerians and our interests and wellbeing is concerned at this point.
“We are already speaking with security operatives in the state as well as the Federal Road Safety Corps to ensure a hitch-free rally in Awka and we shall also organise mini sensitisation rallies in Anambra State where the youths and women wing would be formed.
