Two Americans and two Canadians kidnapped on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen in Kaduna have regained their freedom.
The expatriates, Nate Vangeest (Canadian), John Kirlin (American), Rachael Kelley (Canadian) and Dean Slocum (American), were rescued on around 7.30am on Saturday.
They were reportedly transferred to the American Embassy in Abuja for medical attention after their rescue by a combined team of Inspector – General of Police Intelligence Response Team, Counter Terrorism Unit and Kaduna State Police Command.
The victims were said to be in good health as at the time of their rescue.
Two suspects were reportedly arrested in connection with the kidnapping of the expatriates, who had gone to Kafanchan in Jema’a LGA of the state to inspect some projects and were returning to their base in Abuja when they were ambushed.
The incident occurred on Kwoi – Jere Road in the Kagarko LGA of the state.
The unknown gunmen that ambushed the expatriates’ convoy also killed two armed policemen attached to them.
