A reporter for the Washington Post in Iran has been sentenced to prison by an Iranian court, according to Gawker.
Jason Rezaian, who holds both American and Iranian citizenships, was accused of “collaborating with hostile governments” and spreading “propaganda against the establishment”, allegations Washington Post has denied.
He was the bureau chief of the paper in Tehran, and was arrested after authorities ransacked his house in July 2014.
Rezaian’s lawyer, Leila Ahsan in an interview with the Associated Press denied having a prior knowledge of the verdict.
