A 67-year-old American lady has died in Osubi, Delta State weeks after a young Nigerian lover she met on the internet invited her to Nigeria.

The lady reportedly died in a private hospital at Osubi, Orerokpe in Okpe LGA on Sunday after showing symptoms of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), especially severe coughing.

She had arrived in Nigeria on March 3, a week after the country recorded its index COVID-19 case.

The American was said to have lodged with her host in a hotel in Osubi for several weeks before the incident.

“The young man and the American white lady lodged in a hotel in Osubi where they spent some weeks.

“The white lady later fell sick and she began to manifest some symptoms of COVID-19, especially severe coughing.

“At that stage, her lover rushed her to a private hospital in Osubi, but she gave up the ghost this morning (Sunday),” a police source disclosed.
