An American artist and Atlanta rap star Shawty Lo died in a car crash in the early hours of Wednesday.
He was said to have been leaving a strip club (Blue Flame Lounge) in Atlanta where he was promoting his new single.
He reportedly lost control of his vehicle and struck some trees. The car was said to have burst into flames.
He was not alone as two female passengers were transported to a local hospital though neither had any life threatening injuries.
Shawty Lo, whose real name was Carlos Walker, was the cofounder of the Atlanta-based rap group D4L.
He also won the rookie of the year award at the BET hip-hop awards in 2008, as well as solo hit of the year with his single ‘Dey Know’ .
Walker is survived by 11 children from 10 different baby mamas. “He left 11 kids behind and he took care of all of them. He had just lost his father, and now he goes. We are just praying for his mother,” Cabbell Johnnie, his manager, said.
Condolences and tributes are already pouring in, some from notable figures like 50 cent and Ludacris.
